I had a stopover in Paris for a day along with my kids. I had never been to Paris – the City of Light earlier, but trust me this one day stopover completely delighted me. As soon as I entered the city, I knew I wanted to explore as much as I could – in a day that is. All that was heard about Paris came live in front of me – the belle people, the belle weather, le belle café and more (sorry in case my fresh usage of the word belle is incorrect, but trust me this one visit has surely inspired me to learn French as soon as possible!).
Now we landed early morning, so after getting fresh in our hotel. We decided to search for a good café which as most of are aware is an institution, a cultural thing in Paris. We asked people who told us that in Paris, a café is more about watching other people, that is people gazing, rather than the usual ‘meeting over’ coffee routine which other people follow. Many a café have chairs directly facing the road or something so that people sitting can watch other people passing by!
Next we learnt that the most famous or let’s say the best cafes in Paris were at the Saint Germain des Pres Neighborhood. So we went there, and found that it was one place to be confused as to which café to go to. There was the most famous Café de Flore, Café le Deux Maqots, Café Beauborg, Les Editeurs, Café Bonaparte and more.
After sipping some café, on the special demand of my children, we went on a lookout for a toy store in Paris – to take home a memorabilia of the famous city. After some speculation, we went to two distant places to buy different toys – one was at Au Nain Bleu which apparently had no electronic toys, but only beautiful stuffed toys, and the toy store was located at one of the most posh locations in Paris – the Madeline Neighborhood. The other toy store was called Galerie Vivienne which is actually a secret and ancient passage where the Parisians love to shop. We also got to get a glimpse of the Paris Stock Exchange, Place de Victorie and more on our way.
In all this, our day just flew, but there was one last thing I wanted to do – fine some famous good Wine in Paris. The specialty wine shops are better known as Cavistes and there are hundreds of them. To name a few - Au Verger de la Madeleine, Bacchus et Ariane, Baron Rouge, Le Bernard Magrez Boutique, Caprices de l'instant and more. I was running out of time, so I quickly ordered mine from the hotel. And I definitely wanted more of this city, so I will definitely put a visit to Paris for longer on my itinerary.

Jazz and antiques in Paris: Enticing people world over
When talking in terms of jazz in Paris is a renowned city in the history of jazz. A festival called jazz festival is celebrated is every year in Paris, in the parc floral de Paris (to be precise) in the months of June and July. Centre of attraction of this event are the crowd pulling jazz legends and moreover it also acts as an international platform for the emerging talents from worldwide. At that festive time, basically what happens is that concerts take place in the afternoons of every weekend and hence it comes out to be a perfect way to experience summer atmosphere of Paris. This music genre, called JAZZ gained popularity in 1960’s, when these Paris jazz clubs were regularly blessed with jazz royalty. For example duke Ellington and Louis Armstrong.
One can also spend their weekends along with a “jazz brunch” in the famous jazz club Lionel Hampton at le meridian etoile (18 boulevard gouvion st. cyr. This large and very up market supper-type club offers smooth jazz music and swings on the weekends with its brunch menu costing 36EUR. Te balle au bond, which is also a very unique venue. Basically, this jazz club is constructed on a boat which is docked in the seine in very central part of Paris and moreover it is with fairly reasonable priced drinks. Paris also offer s a gate way which is perfect for the exploration of this music culture and take in some of the most royal and ambient spots which the city has in its store and are to be offered.
Even today there is a strong tradition of music in Paris and which also regularly plays host to those international artists which deserve fame and reputation. The city of Paris certainly has a vast range of things to offer to its tourists; Antiques in Paris is one of them.
Usually there are two essential reasons to go to Paris. That is to purchase something and the second is to enjoy the ambiance of Paris and buy some antiques/collectables at the same time. Well at the end of the day, no matter what the reason is , it is still necessary to establish where you are going and for how long. One should not forget that France is a big country and which is also served with motorways but yet it takes a lot of time and money to travel. Though there several place to buy, which are quite similar to those to UK.
Discover places you will like to visit or watch with free of cost, you have no need to hire any guide to choose Antiques in Paris, hotels in Paris and jazz in Paris. Me Frau Simo writes for Le Best of Paris. Thanks!
